Genuine Aprilia clutch switch, part number AP8124398, item 21 in the diagram.

The clutch switch is designed to allow you to start the bike whilst it is in gear but with the clutch lever pulled in. If the switch is broken or the unit is not plugged in properly, it will mean that you have to put the bike into neutral before you can start it.
