Genuine Aprilia thermostat valve, part number AP8124929, item 5 in the diagram.
The thermostat valve allows coolant to circulate around the system which in turn keeps the engine cool. As it functions as a valve, the thermostat has 2 positions, either open and closed. When the valve is in the open position, coolant is able to flow through it, which then lowers the engine's temperature. When it is in the closed position, no coolant is able to pass through it and circulate which then means the temperature rises.
If you notice that your engine is running either too hot or too cold ie it isn't at it's normal working temperature, you may have a faulty valve. As this is an OEM part, it will fit straight on and have your engine back to its optimum working efficiency in no time.
